On Thursday, October 15, credit unions around the world will celebrate International Credit Union Day. It’s a day to celebrate the credit union movement and the members who make it possible.
Did you know the credit union movement began in the mid-19th century when farmers and workers in Germany pooled their savings to help one another through difficult times? The idea spread around the world, built on the simple belief that people can work together to improve their financial well-being.
That spirit has been part of CFCU since 1939, when Pioneer Bell Credit Union was founded by Southwestern Bell Telephone employees in downtown Oklahoma City. More than 85 years later, we serve more than 140,000 members.
While CFCU has grown quite a bit since 1939, our commitment to our members and communities remains the same.
