Dear Valued Communication Federal Credit Union Members,

With a great deal of media attention focused on recent bank failures, I wanted to take this opportunity to assure you that Communication is among the nation’s strongest financial institutions. As a consumer-focused credit union, we do not have exposure to the business sectors which ultimately caused the failures of these banks. Our deposit base is much more diversified and not dependent upon volatile business sectors.

We take seriously the responsibility of managing our financial position, ensuring the security of your hard-earned money. We have a strong capital position, in excess of 12%. Our Federal Regulators, the National Credit Union Administration, consider a credit union well capitalized with a capital ratio over 7%. This means your credit union is extremely stable. Additionally, because of our strength and stability, we have been rated as one of the nation’s strongest financial institutions, receiving a five-star rating for over 30 consecutive years, by Bauer Financial Reports. No other Oklahoma-based credit union with assets over $100 million has achieved this honor.

Our credit union holds less than 12% of our total assets in investments, thereby reducing our exposure to market conditions. Credit unions are also prohibited from holding high-risk investments. Over 84% of member deposits held at Communication Federal are federally insured, unlike many too-big-to-fail banks that have customers with significant exposure to uninsured funds.

We are honored to serve the financial needs of you and your family. We appreciate your trust and maintain a conservative risk tolerance to better protect your money. In closing, Communication Federal Credit Union is a safe place for your money. If you, your family or friends have deposits that you would like to secure, please know that they are welcome at the credit union. As always, we are here to answer any question you may have. Thank you for your business and membership.

Sincerely,

Larry Shropshire
